Tool & Die Maker - Stamping

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • To teardown, clean, repair, and grind die components as required. Rebuild dies, verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of stamping dies, and have them ready as required by production.
  • Identifies trouble areas and determines corrective action. Works with production personnel to address various stamping, welding, or fixture issues during scheduled shift.
  • Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, or descriptions, and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts and molds.
  • Maintains spare parts inventory system for dies, weld plates etc.
  • Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machine, and grinders, to machine parts, and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications.
  • Examines standard or previously used dies, tools, and jigs and fixtures, and recommends design modifications regarding construction and function of part.
  • Develops specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools and draws or sketches design of product.
  • All work affecting product quality shall be competent on the basis of appropriate education, training, skills, and experience.
  • Performs additional related duties as required.


  • High school degree or equivalent plus graduation from certified Tool & Die Apprenticeship program.
  • 5+ years of related experience in stamping die, progressive die maintenance and repair.
  • Frequent standing, occasional walking or sitting. Occasional using of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reaching with hands and arms, and stooping, kneeling, or crouching. Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.
