Team Lead, Engineering - Maintenance

This individual will  ensure maximum assembly equipment uptime and availability, lead a team of maintenance technicians and conduct day to day repairs and preventative maintenance work along with specialized / advanced maintenance engineering assignments. They will reduce down time, through the use of analytical skills and sound engineering practices. Works with engineering and technical resources to improve tooling, machine designs, cost estimates, and resolve challenges with assembly equipment and automation. In addition, this individual will improve and assure completed products are fully tested and meet set standards of quality.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervises, coordinates and guides the maintenance team members in repairing assembly and sub assembly equipment.
  • Organizes daily, weekly and monthly workloads and distributes work to team members accordingly.
  • Schedules and monitors projects, PM’s and repairs.
  • Keeps project completion dates on set targets.
  • Reviews department and individual performance with department manager.
  • Organizes continued education and growth of team members.
  • Develops and trains team members with new skills and techniques to better the quality of their workmanship and help improve the department.
  • Keeps department members up to date with all relevant events and issues.
  • Makes decisions on problem resolutions, technical improvements, equipment recommendations, work methods, impact on cost, quality and accuracy.
  • Ensures compliance with company recordkeeping policies, including updating team member training records, project documentation, special and regular projects, and other documents.
  • Schedules and monitors concurrent repairs and projects and communicates with department managers as needed.
  • Distributes and organizes work to team members to ensure project milestones and deadlines are met.
  • Makes decisions on proposals for general problem resolutions and proposes technical improvements, equipment recommendations, and improved work methods.
  • Researches, designs, and implements systems to improve uptime, quality and improve cost effectiveness.
  • Makes recommendations to the department manager regarding the potential hire of new team members based on resumes, technical backgrounds, and direct involvement in formal interviews.
  • Analyzes processes and equipment to proactively detect issues and minimize unscheduled downtime.
  • Analyze unplanned downtime to determine causality and make recommendations to prevent future problems.
  • Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes product to determine actions required to maintain and repair machines and fixtures.
  • Determines equipment spare parts, analyzes and schedules preventative maintenance, Initiates equipment upgrades.
  • Reviews predictive and preventive maintenance services; ensures adherence to all standards including timing and quality of work.
  • Monitors production, work completion, and/or personnel performance to ensure proper repair / work order completion with respect to all quality standards.
  • May be asked to remain on call during non-scheduled time in order to support potential production issues.
  • Maintains appropriate level of technical and professional skills by attending training classes, seminars, exhibits, and trade shows as needed.
  • Works independently with creativity and latitude under minimal supervision of a team leader/manager.
  • All work affecting product quality shall be competent on the basis of appropriate education, training, skills, and experience.
  • Assumes additional related responsibilities as required


  • 4 year college degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline preferred
  • 7+ years of related experience
  • Frequent standing, occasional walking or sitting; using of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reaching with hands and arms, and stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
  • Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.
