Job Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • In the absence of the supervisor, directs, supervises, and coordinates machine set-ups and operations requiring a broad knowledge of injection processes, plastic compounds, and production engineering applications.
  • May organize and assign work to utilize available skills, knowledge and experience, labor hours, machines, and tooling to the best advantages to obtain most favorable machining costs, quality, and workmanship.
  • Coordinates production with Quality Assurance inspection activities as they may be related to work in progress.  Integrates required revisions to products or processes as necessary.
  • Receives work orders from production schedules or verbal instruction from supervisor or Lead Person and verifies proper tooling or mold requirements.
  • Selects proper tooling or mold and prepares materials needed for proper machine set up, testing, and operation.  Inserts and secures required tools or molds to meet scheduled production, ensuring proper placement and setting and using manual or mechanical assistance to transfer tool or mold when necessary.
  • Operates machine to test settings and makes adjustments to speed, feed, tool or mold setting, etc., to ensure product conformance with defined specification.
  • Communicates special operating instructions to machine operator as necessary.
  • Responds to machine operator questions regarding settings or changes to settings during machine production.
  • Completes required paperwork to record set up procedures, settings, etc.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Specifications

Education:  High school diploma or GED

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • All work affecting product quality shall be competent on the basis of appropriate education, training, skills, and experience.
  • Average score on basic skill test batteries.      
  • Average score on mechanical concepts test batteries.
  • Previous set-up experience preferred

 

Work Experience:  1-3 years
