Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Directs, supervises, and coordinates machine set-ups and operations requiring a broad knowledge of assembly processes, powerhead parts, and industrial engineering applications to provide efficient assemblage that meets quality, quantity, schedule, and cost requirements.
  • Organizes and assigns work to utilize available skills, knowledge and experience, labor hours, machines and tooling to the best advantages to obtain most favorable assembly costs, quality and workmanship.
  • Provides regular training, instruction, and guidance and maintains close surveillance over set-up/ changeover procedures operations.
  • Analyzes and diagnoses machine problems, malfunctions, etc., to expedite and coordinate corrective procedures/actions and to prevent excessive downtime and interrupted schedules.
  • Coordinates production with Quality Assurance inspection activities, as they may be related to work in progress.
  • Integrates required revisions to products or processes as necessary.
  • Provides information and collaborates with other departments to assist with and/or implement such programs related to work simplification, cost reduction, new methods, labor hour planning, scheduling, machine repairing and maintenance.
  • Develops new processes and participates in the development of new materials with suppliers.
  • Maintains appropriate levels of labor in accordance with skill requirements, work levels and schedules, labor hour and training programs.
  • Maintains conformance with STIHL employee and safety rules and regulations, issues violation warnings and administers approved disciplinary measures when necessary.
  • Participates in and coordinates internal programs, such as communications, vacation schedules, job analysis and evaluation, employee performance reviews, wage administration, etc.
  • Maintains currency with respect to technical and supervisory skills by attending training classes, special technical and administration courses, seminars, exhibits and trade shows as needed.
  • Assumes additional related responsibilities as required.
  • All work affecting product quality shall be competent on the basis of appropriate education, training, skills, and experience.

Specifications

  • High School Degree or equivalent plus additional formal supervisory training.
  • 4 year college degree preferred in related discipline.
  • 5 to 7 years of related supervisory experience.
