About You

This person will be responsible for the purchase of the moderately complex goods, materials and services. Ensures that the company’s operational needs are met, taking into account the total cost of ownership (TCO), quality and delivery and to ensure continuity of supply in accordance with corporate directives, policies and best practices.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop cross-functional relationships and communication strategies with internal stakeholders to identify business needs and align supply base to achieve overall corporate strategic direction for ODM/OEM suppliers.
  • Guide the sourcing, selection, development, and management of ODM/OEM manufacturers to meet cost and performance targets. Estimated spend managed $500MM.
  • Understand and monitor current industry conditions/trends, developing technologies, supply chain capacity/capability, product knowledge, customer requirements and supply/demand challenges.
  • Works with Global Commodity Manager in developing the commodity strategy and execution of the strategy to optimize the supplier performance.
  • Negotiate complex contracts and manage long-term agreements with suppliers or for quality, delivery, cost and service levels.
  • Identify and manage risk mitigation strategies in support of the commodity strategy.
  • Understand and analyze supplier financial reports including monitoring agency reports to assess suppliers' financial health.
  • Audits supplier processes with Supplier Quality Engineering for best practices, recommend areas for improvement, and offer developmental plans to ensure adherence to STIHL’s supplier requirements.
  • Works closely with Supplier Quality Engineering and suppliers to resolve quality issues.

Specifications

  • 3-5 years of experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Finance, Accounting, Engineering or related discipline. Or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with OEM commodities is highly preferred.
  • Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of ISO requirements and lean manufacturing initiatives
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office
  • Negotiation skills
  • Ability to draft and execute complex contracts.
