About You

You specialize in metrology and quality systems, ensuring materials and products meet high standards. You streamline processes, support certifications, and lead initiatives that strengthen accuracy and continuous improvement.

Purpose

To plan, implement, and coordinate activities concerned with development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for metrology processes, materials, products, and parts. To lead and participate in the development and maintenance of quality initiatives, projects, or certifications essential to the successful operations of STIHL.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develops and initiates standards and methods for measurement, inspection, testing, and evaluation.
  • Devises sampling procedures and designs and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.
  • Establishes programs to evaluate precision and accuracy of measurement equipment and testing, measurement methods, and analytical equipment and facilities.
  • Develops and implements methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant material and devises methods to assess cost and responsibility.
  • Compiles and writes training material and conducts training sessions on quality activities.
  • Coordinates and reports on achievement and maintenance of quality certifications.
  • Participates and coordinates internal and external audits of STIHL processes, ensuring smooth and successful outcome of audits.
  • Develops and generates statistical reports on inspection/measurement activities and results, new product or process testing results, etc. and recommends action as required.
  • Maintains currency with respect to technical skills by attending training classes, special technical and administration courses, seminars, exhibits and trade shows as needed.
  • Responsible for measurement fixtures, programs, and strategy design, as well as their ongoing maintenance
  • All work affecting product quality shall be competent on the basis of appropriate education, training, skills, and experience.
  • Assumes additional related responsibilities as required.

Specifications

  • 4-year college degree in related discipline, preferably Mechanical Engineering.
  • 4+ years of related work experience preferred
  • Proficiency in statistical software configuration preferred
  • 3D modeling experience preferred
