Material Planner

This individual will coordinate, implement and oversee the activities involved in the procurement of components and spare parts required for production and sales orders from outside suppliers, other STIHL Group subsidiaries and ANDREAS STIHL. They will coordinate the outflow of parts and materials to branches, distributors, STIHL Group Subsidiaries and ANDREAS STIHL. In addition, this individual will provide research, technical and project support to the Spare Parts warehouse.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Reviews and analyzes procurement requirements in MRP (Material Requirement Planning) and production schedules, monitoring inventory levels and reconciling inventory levels with planning schedules.
  • Places orders for a defined group of higher priced components from outside suppliers, other STIHL Group subsidiaries and ANDREAS STIHL.
  • Schedules and expedites orders, follows up on deliveries by communicating with suppliers, STIHL Group companies, Warehousing, Purchasing or other internal personnel.
  • Receives orders for production and spare parts from STIHL Inc., ANDREAS STIHL, and other STIHL Group companies, reconciling information as required and reviewing orders in production/shipping schedules.
  • Monitors order fulfillment and resolves problems with internal and external personnel as required. Balances levels of inventory to accommodate the inflow and outflow of materials, parts or products required to implement engineering product changes.
  • Works with Engineering to define future changes and plan for inventory requirements. Works with other department personnel, such as Production, Quality Assurance, Engineering, etc. to rectify defective or unacceptable goods or to change future order requirements.
  • Researches, plans, develops and participates in projects designed to change or alter current policies, procedures and/or systems with respect to material logistics and planning. Maintains currency with respect to technical and professional skills by attending training classes, special technical and administration courses, seminars, exhibits and trade shows as needed.
  • Assumes additional related responsibilities as needed.


  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 4 + years of related experience preferred. SAP experience preferred.
