The intern will be tasked with helping the Automation team with implementation of automated systems delivered to STIHL Inc. Additional responsibilities could include:

  • Help with installation
  • Troubleshoot as needed
  • Observe the automation and collect data; as needed, analyze data to support decision making
  • Root cause analysis
  • Assist with smaller design changes
  • Support NTB testing
  • Assist with RFQ and project specifications for new projects. 

 

Also, the intern will be tasked with helping the Machine & Automation team with implementation of automated systems designed and built in-house. Additional responsibilities could include:

  • Assist with assembling, wiring/plumbing
  • Assist with design changes; design smaller to medium size assemblies/subassemblies components
  • Develop 2D drawings for various components/assemblies
  • Proof of concepts
  • Help with installation
  • Troubleshoot as needed
  • Observe the automation and collect data as needed analyze data to support decision making
  • Root cause analysis as needed
  • Support NTB testing

Internship Goals:

  • Improve the performance of installed automations at STIHL Inc.
  • Develop strategies and solutions for ramping up automations
  • Understanding the scope and importance of root cause analysis
  • Learn how automations are designed and built

Internship Requirements:

Academic Year: Junior, Senior

Area of Study: Mechanical Engineering

Preferred GPA: 3.5+

Software Experience: SolidWorks, Excel, PowerPoint

Internship Information:

Work Hours: 8:00am-5:00pm

Department: Machine and Automation

Compensation: $20/hour
