The focus of this internship will be to support the Purchasing Department with projects including bids, contracting, supplier risk evaluations, and supplier market analysis. Additional duties as assigned included but limited to:

  • Master data cleanup and maintenance in preparation for ONESTIHL project (incl. vendor records, NDA and contract filing/cleanup, etc.)
  • Shadowing of buyers for different projects and supporting with the different steps. This can include performing financial checks on suppliers, evaluating suitable suppliers to include in bids/RFPs, comparing proposals and summarizing results, etc.
  • Stakeholder mapping project. Performing an evaluation and documentation of all of the key stakeholders by commodity and supplier that request items from the Indirect Purchasing team. 

Internship Goals:

  • Understand the Indirect Purchasing policies and processes
  • Understand the different commodities purchased within the organization and at a high level how they differ and are supported by Purchasing
  • Learn best practices in sourcing and contracting
  • Understand how awarding of suppliers is done and the key factors considered

Internship Requirements:

Academic Year: No preference

Area of Study: Supply Chain, Business or Finance

Preferred GPA: 3.0+

Software Experience: MS Office (medium proficiency), Ariba and SAP experience (preferred but not required)

Work Hours: 8:30am-5:00pm

Compensation: $20/hour
