About You

You arrange and implement the import and customs clearance functions for STIHL. You ensure timely payment of invoices and accurate drawback if imposed duties apply. You make sure certain parts and components are available to meet production needs.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs customs broker operations for all incoming finished goods and STIHL part containers.
  • Converts foreign currency to dollars. Calculates duties or tariffs on items using Harmonized Tariff Schedule.
  • Calculates other required customs data, enters into computerized brokerage system, and transmits data to customs for import clearance. Receives responses from customs and responds to questions, problems, or requests for additional documentation.
  • Provides required customs or governmental documentation to receiving ports/terminals via EDI/modem.
  • Arranges for wire transfer of payment, including additional charges from truck lines, freight forwarders, terminals, etc.
  • Administers Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) operations, control the flow of goods through the zone, control of in bond goods receipt in accordance with the FTZ.
  • Operations Manual. Uses computerized FTZ software to admit goods and clear bill of ladings through AMS.
  • Control and prepare Import Security Filings to establish timely transmission without penalty.
  • Prepares U.S. Census Bureau, Customs and other governmental agency documentation as required. Provides problem resolution and information requests from government agencies and internal customers.
  • Secures release of manifest from shipping lines; communicates information to affect timely drayage. Ensures proper and timely document filing and payment of customs duties and payments to truck lines, freight forwarders, terminals, etc.
  • Maintains audit documentation and files, reference library of applicable CFRs, Harmonized Tariff Schedules and related data.
  • Communicates import order specifications, delivery plans and delivery status with appropriate internal customers.
  • Navigates numerous websites / software systems to retrieve and load master data.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Specifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Performs work under general supervision.
  • Handles moderately complex issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
  • 5-7 years of working experience
