Heat Treat Operator

Purpose

This person will participate in setting and operating one or more machines to carborize, braze, or otherwise heat treat metallic parts.

 

This position's hours are 7:00AM to 7:00PM.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists Heat Treating Operator A as needed with production requirements and coordinate work flow to achieve maximum production efficiency.
  • Responsible for honing, brazing, and insulation operations; parts loading, washing, inspection, and shot peening operations; clutch drum, chain sprocket, and axle straightening operations; forklift operation
  • Troubleshoot brazing automation cell – to include press setups, furnace atmosphere, brazing paste, Fanuc robot, and Denso robot issues.
  • Operates batch and temper furnaces based on set recipes to meet heat treating specifications, gasses and degassing of furnaces, including emergency situations (load stuck, power outage, etc.) and operates endothermic, nitrogen, and hydrogen generators.
  • Responsible for training Heat Treat Operator C on all job responsibilities.
  • Assists with material handling of all production materials as needed.
  • Performs assigned 5-S functions in the department. Follows all defined and mandatory safety procedures and uses judgment to ensure safe work methods.
  • Assumes additional related responsibilities as needed.

 

Specifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ years of related experience preferred.
  • Completion of pre-requisite training (see departmental training plan) prior to or within 6 months or hire.
  • Basic understanding of Fanuc robotics.
  • Basic understanding of metallurgical processes being performed in both heat treating and brazing.
  • Schedule flexibility is required to meet departmental needs.
  • Uses hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Reaches with hands and arms.
  • Frequently, stands, walks, stoops, kneels and crouches.
  • Lifts and/or moves up to 45 pounds frequently and lifts and/or moves up to 55 pounds occasionally.
