Engineering Supervisor - Injection Molding

This individual will lead a group of engineers and/or other technical personnel and conduct specialized/advanced engineering assignments.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervises, coordinates, and guides engineers in obtaining, organizing, and analyzing data used to resolve production issues.
  • Responsible for the performance of projects and personnel in designated area.
  • Ensures compliance with company recordkeeping policies, including updating training records, project documentation, special and regular projects, and other documents.
  • Schedules and monitors concurrent engineering projects and communicates with department manager as needed.
  • Distributes, coordinates and organizes work to ensure project milestones and deadlines are met.
  • Makes decisions on proposals for general problem resolutions, and proposes technical improvements, equipment recommendations, and improved work methods.
  • Researches, designs, and implements systems to improve error-proofing, quality, increase production speed, reduce downtime, and improve cost effectiveness.
  • Measures impact of changes on production cost, quality, and accuracy; prepares reports to management as necessary.
  • Makes recommendations to the department manager regarding the potential hire of new team members based on resumes, technical backgrounds, and direct involvement in formal interviews.
  • Analyzes processes and equipment to proactively detect issues and minimize unscheduled downtime. Analyze unplanned downtime to determine causality and make recommendations to prevent future problems.
  • Creates designs, models, and schematics for either in house or outside vendors to construct. May personally assist in the construction of such systems, and is responsible for system tests, validation, and issue resolution.
  • Coordinates with personnel in other departments to aide in problem resolution. Participates in improvement teams and focus groups as needed.
  • Assists with instructing, training, and answering area-specific questions for less experienced engineers or other departmental personnel.
  • May be asked to remain on call during non-scheduled time in order to support potential production issues.
  • Maintains appropriate level of technical and professional skills by attending training classes, seminars, exhibits, and trade shows as needed.
  • All work affecting product quality shall be competent on the basis of appropriate education, training, skills, and experience.
  • Assumes additional related responsibilities as required



  • 4 year college degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline preferred
  • 5+ years of related experience
