Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Design and develop new landscaping products, from concept to production, considering performance, safety, cost, and manufacturability. Integrate IoT capabilities to enhance the functionality and connectivity of the products with respect to digital services.
- Collaborate with the global engineering team to define product requirements, specifications, and project timelines, ensuring alignment with customer needs and business objectives.
- Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software and other engineering tools to create detailed models, drawings, and prototypes of landscaping products, and validate designs through analysis and testing.
- Support the STIHL product development process, including design reviews, audits, design verification, and validation activities, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards. Support digital service testing and validation to ensure proper functionality and reliability.
- Collaborate with suppliers, manufacturing teams, and external partners to optimize product design, address manufacturing challenges, and ensure smooth production ramp-up.
- Conduct research on emerging technologies, digital services, materials, and manufacturing processes to drive continuous improvement and innovation in landscaping product design.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to provide technical expertise, contribute to product strategy, and ensure successful product launches.
- Collaborate closely with the sales and marketing teams to understand customer feedback, market trends, and competitive landscape, and incorporate insights into product design and development.
- Support the resolution of technical issues and provide engineering support to manufacturing, quality, and service teams as needed.
- Stay up-to-date with industry developments, trends, and best practices related to landscaping products, and proactively share knowledge with the team.

Specifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering or a related field preferred
- Strong proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as Creo, and familiarity with simulation and analysis tools
- Solid understanding of engineering principles, mechanical design concepts, and manufacturing processes
- Knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and safety requirements for landscaping products, ideally for US market
- Experience in global product development processes, including design verification, validation, and product lifecycle management
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional and global teams and external partners
- Fluency in German and English, written and verbal
- Proven experience (3 years) in designing and developing landscaping products, ideally with a specific focus on mowers.
