STIHL Inc. is seeking a Supervisor, Technical Training to manage the development and delivery of comprehensive product service training programs.  This role is vital to the organization in developing and delivering service training programs, training aids and service training information for use by branches, distributors, dealers, vocational education schools and associations and end-users.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • To coordinate the development and delivery of comprehensive service training programs for use by STIHL Inc. branches, distributors, dealers, and end-users.
  • Manage activities of the Technical Training Center and provide support as needed to the Branch Service Department.
  • Supervise assigned personnel and identify staffing requirements and coordinate recruitment and hiring of product service training personnel.
  • Identify service training needs and develop necessary curriculum, training aids and instruction techniques for use by STIHL Inc. branches, distributors, dealers, and end-users.
  • Coordinate, organize and instruct service certification training seminars to STIHL Inc. dealers.
  • Coordinate, instruct and participate in service training programs to branches, distributors, dealers, end-users, and STIHL Inc. employees.
  • Identify and develop necessary product service training presentations, training videos, and web based training for the STIHL iCademy Web site.
  • Visit branches and distributors to assist with service training seminars and the Service Training instructor development.
  • Participates and represents STIHL in associations/groups that focus on small engine service education.
  • Communicate regularly with the Technical Service Specials, Field testing Technicians, and Product Managers to gather information regarding new products, product updates and product applications.
  • Assist with product demonstrations and new product introductions as direct by supervisor.
  • Participate and assist in meetings and trade shows as requested.
  • Assume additional related responsibilities as directed by supervisor.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Vocational/Technical Education or related field.
  • 5+ years of related experience.    
  • Broad understanding in the operation and repair of small 2-cycle and 4-cyle internal combustion engines.
  • Experience in developing and teaching small engine operation and repair curriculum.
  • Experience in public speaking and instructing in a classroom setting.  Must be able to effectively convey training curriculum to adult small engine service technicians.
  • Experience in the use of various instructing/teaching aids to effectively convey training curriculum (e.g. video, interactive computer training, working models, web based training, etc.).
  • Some overnight travel required.
