Supply Chain Procurement Planner

This person will analyze moderate material planning requirements for specific production areas as well as maintain appropriate levels of materials and supplies in stock and escalates both parts and suppliers challenges to supervisor.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Analyze, plan, release, control, reschedule and cancel orders based on requirements in SAP via MRP. Selects the appropriate mode of transportation to meet requirements while keeping transportation costs to a minimum. 
  • Maintain adequate stock levels to keep production areas working, to meet spare parts requirements.  
  • Maintains adequate supply to meet demands while keeping inventory levels at desired targets consistent with ABC analysis ensuring that excess and obsolete inventory levels are kept to a minimum.  
  • Performs machine capacity planning and communicates the production schedule with responsible production departments. Contacts suppliers and/or work centers regarding material problems within assigned planning codes that are either the result of demand fluctuations, delayed receipt, quality issues, etc.
  • Monitors and evaluate assigned production areas or suppliers in regards to performance standards, recommends actions as needed.  
  • Reviews capacity requirements and develops a capacity report to identify time periods when capacity could impact production’s ability to meet demand.
  • Maintains lead time, firm zone and trade off zone sections of master data within SAP. Maintenance of records and documentation related to past activities, order specs, supplier specs and performance histories and provides to management as needed.
  • Coordinates activities related to inbound and outbound material flow between STIHL Group Subsidiaries.  
  • Work cross functionally to rectify defective or unacceptable goods and subsequent plans for future.  
  • Implements engineering changes.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • 3-5 years related experience preferred. 
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft software, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Knowledge of MRP system; SAP applications preferred.
  • CPIM, CSCP and/or Lean Six Sigma White Belt certifications preferred.
