Sr. Manager - Continuous Improvement

Purpose

STIHL is seeking a highly motivated, innovative Master Black Belt to join our team at STIHL’s corporate headquarters in Virginia Beach! This individual will be responsible with leading the team that will work with senior management to create and lead process improvement efforts across the company. The successful candidate will provide leadership, vision and strategic focus on all process improvement initiatives and apply improvement principles and standards within a Sales and Manufacturing organization.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for creating and implementing and maintaining Six Sigma strategy and culture 
  • Demonstrate past experience leading Lean Six Sigma implementation within an organization that delivered tangible, measurable results.
  • Create company project charter and control all internal projects using Lean Six Sigma methods
  • Liaise with STIHL Group for US led continuous improvement activities  
  • STIHL Inc. liaison for all STIHL Group projects
  • Work with company executives and stake holders to develop specific company deliverables to eliminate waste and non-value activities through value stream mapping 
  • Develop, coach, mentor and train Green, Black and Master Black Belt roles, ensuring yearly project deliverables are met
  • Embed statistical based tools and methods into day to day job roles and requirements
  • Develop companywide standard operating procedures to eliminate waste with the goal to achieve business process excellence, through stakeholder involvement 
  • Collaborate with IS to develop turnkey solutions for business process needs
  • Communicate goals and strategic direction to all levels of the organization including communication with headquarters in Germany and global STIHL affiliates 
  • Ensure project selection and deliverables are met through Six Sigma methodologies 
  • Create and capture all project estimates ensuring validation, in conjunction with Finance,  whilst measuring organizational project savings
  • Guarantee post project audits are completed to ensure compliance and control in conjunction with internal audit
  • Develop internal training plan to ensure all critical positions are identified and trained to deliver sustainable lean projects     
  • Conflict resolution within cross functional teams including stakeholders and vendors
  • Assumes additional related responsibilities as needed.

Specifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant discipline
  • 10+ years of experience leading continuous improvement activities and delivering measureable results
  • LEAN Six Sigma Master Black Belt certification required
  • SAP ERP experience and knowledge preferred
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred
  • Effective cross-functional leadership skills to include international experience
  • Proven financial acumen
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, German language skills an advantage but not required
