Sr Mgr, Quality Assurance

The Sr. Manager, Quality Assurance will develop, implement, and manage product, part, material, and process quality assurance programs to prevent or eliminate defects in new or existing products including internally produced components.  To participate in the planning and development of new or revised products, parts, materials or processes.  To coordinate and oversee quality management and certification systems and procedures to produce and document STIHL quality.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Directs all areas of the Quality Assurance department, typically through subordinate managers.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manages the inspection and evaluation of products, parts, and materials in relation to quality factors and measures
  • Analyzes, evaluates, and presents information concerning factors such as business situations, production capabilities, manufacturing problems, statistical trends, and proposed process changes.  Reviews factors in light of quality of product and reliability of quality during production
  • Oversees and participates in the development of programs which effect quality, output, or cost.
  • Visits and confers with representatives of material and component suppliers to obtain information related to supply quality, capacity of vendor to meet orders, and vendor quality standards.
  • Conducts management meetings with other department managers to establish, delineate, and review programs and organizational policies.  Coordinates functions and operations between Quality Assurance and other departments.
  • Participates in the research, development, and design of long-range strategic objectives.  Works with other departmental managers in the laying out and planning of potential future operational changes.
  • Manage and develop department supervisors and employees in all areas of the Quality Assurance Department, even if through subordinate managers.
  • Coordinates the ISO9001 plant quality certifications with external certification authorities
  • 4 year College Degree in Engineering or related discipline preferred and/or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience, including 3+ in team / department management.
