This individual will lead specialized and advanced manufacturing engineering assignments to develop new methods, tooling and machine designs, cost estimates, and/or to resolve engineering problems involved in manufacturing of standard parts or products for assigned area or production. They will also supervise work and performance of engineers or technicians as assigned.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and guides engineering and technical facets of assignments in the area of obtaining and organizing informational data and analyzing and resolving problems.
  • Prepares and carries out approved recommendations to include tool redesign and alterations, change of material specifications, dimensions, methods, routing, etc.
  • Through research of advanced technology, develops proposals for automation, mechanization, methods, special tooling, machine attachments, etc., for the purpose of cost reduction.
  • Prepares cost estimates and provides ROI's for method changes; estimates savings expected as the result of such change.
  • Plans equipment layout and workflow, estimates routing times and manpower requirements, sets up lines, and trains supervisors and managers in correct production procedures for new or vastly revised production operations.
  • Conducts special studies involved in terms of methods and time to provide manufacturing estimates on new and complex work.
  • Investigate various types of new machines and equipment with regards to versatility and diversification of production features required, prices, and other conditions involved.
  • Prepares presentation materials and recommendations for management information relative to the purchase or lease of new equipment.
  • Leads the development, implementation and production release of new production lines.
  • Coordinates the resolution of product line issues with Germany.
  • Works closely with other departments, e.g. Production, Tooling, Purchasing, et al., to affect problem resolution or to respond to technical questions.
  • Oversees and participates in the conduction of time and motion studies which attempt to verify existing times and costs or to establish time and costs for new products or parts.
  • Assists with coaching, leading and mentoring of manufacturing engineers, designers and other departmental personnel as appropriate.
  • Serves as a resource to the organization for manufacturing, process improvement and technical issues.
  • Supervises the work assignment, performance and behavior of assigned personnel.
  • Maintains records, files, and other documentation pertinent to special and regular assignments performed.
  • Maintains currency with respect to technical and supervisory skills by attending training classes, special technical and administration courses, seminars, exhibits and trade shows as needed.
  • All work affecting product quality shall be competent on the basis of appropriate education, training, skills, and experience. Assumes additional related responsibilities as required.

Specifications

  • 4 year college degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
  • 6 plus years of related experience.
  • Bilingual English/German preferred.
