SAP MM Business Systems Analyst

This individual will provide project management in SAP Warehouse Management (MM) module and third-party logistics/warehouse business systems projects and development efforts and detailed analysis and technical support for enterprise-level business systems and applications within the STIHL environment. They will also assist colleagues in troubleshooting end-user application issues. They will identify continuous improvement and cross-functional opportunities based on changing needs within the business. They will assess business requirements and provide solutions for support requests; additional functionality; or revisions to existing systems. Additionally, they will recommend standards for business systems as business requirements.

Job Duties

  • Hands-on expertise in configuring SAP MM modules, with detailed knowledge of SAP ABAP programs, function modules, SAP scripts, User Exits, ALE, and IDOCs.
  • Developing and implementing SAP configuration, processes, best practices, and standards and communicating those plans to Senior Management.
  • Supporting application testing, deployment, maintenance and enhancement activities by correcting configuration and responding to scope changes and application enhancements.
  • Analyzing and troubleshooting complex and multi-dimensional problems with business end users and/or other IT professionals
  • Communicating business stakeholder needs to the SAP development team by interpreting the business requirements and translating them into SAP technical requirements
  • Researching business requirements, developing detailed specifications and validating the SAP solutions with business stakeholders
  • Identifying and analyzing business needs, conducting requirements gathering and defining scope and objectives with business stakeholders
  • Making recommendations for solutions or improvements to business processes that can be accomplished through a SAP module and/or new technology, or alternative use of existing technology and communicating those solutions to Senior Management/Executives
  • Coaching and reviewing the work of lower level professionals
  • Leading business process integration and testing across SAP modules and external applications. Developing test scenarios, test scripts and performing end-to-end testing.


  • High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree preferred in Information Systems, Engineering, Business, Business Systems or any other related discipline.  
  • SAP MM Certification required.
  • 7+ years of experience in supporting software development life cycle and methodologies for enterprise applications.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing, distribution or logistics environment.  
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with relational databases, programming and development.   
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft software, including Excel, PowerPoint, Access & Visio.    
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience leading medium size projects preferred.
  • Some travel required as dictated by business requirements (approximately 2+ weeks per year).
