Product Information Specialist

This individual will supervise and execute aspects of the Company's product liability and risk management program.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Investigates lawsuits, claims and incidents when injury or property loss has been made known to STIHL Inc.
  • Provides research and analysis for Company in discovery, research and investigation efforts.
  • Advises the Company’s departments, branches and customers regarding risk management and product liability issues.
  • Informational resource to Company’s departments regarding products, applications, products and company history.
  • Monitors Company’s Record Retention Policy; may be part of audit team(s) ensuring compliance with the company policy.
  • Understands standards as they relate to new product development such as manuals/warnings/design features.
  • Reviews literature, marketing materials and other publications and communications for Marketing, Sales, Technical Services and other internal departments of STIHL Inc., as well as for Distributors, Branches and outside service providers.
  • Assists with product recalls as required.
  • All work affecting product quality shall be competent on the basis of appropriate education, training, skills, and experience.
  • Assumes additional related responsibilities as required

Specifications

  • 4 year college degree preferred.
  • Paralegal / legal experience or basic product liability knowledge preferred.
  • Strong technical, applications and STIHL product knowledge with customer / dealer support experience preferred.
  • Platinum/Gold Certified Masterwrench Training preferred.
  • 3+years field experience preferred.
  • Proficient in oral, written and presentation communications, negotiation, problem solving, organization and editing.
  • Ability to deal with adversarial situations (especially in litigation) and a positive, open attitude.
  • Commitment to corporate and individual compliance with legal and ethical obligations.
  • Frequent overnight travel.
  • Occasional international travel.
  • Private investigator license/training preferred.
