Machining Process Engineer


Are you are progressive machining engineer who possesses a passion for process improvement, high speed CNC machining and tight tolerances?  If so, we have an awesome opportunity! We are seeking a highly skilled Process Engineer, Machining for our state of-the- art CNC Machining Group!


Position Highlights:

  • Visibility – Work closely with the Production Director and other department heads to improve machining capability.   
  • Challenge – Work with Machining Engineers, Leads, Scheduling, and other Production departments to create new and innovative solutions increasing volume and quality
  • Stability – Located in Virginia Beach since the early 70’s, this organization has NEVER had a layoff! 
Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responsible for improving machine reliability, processes and cost reduction.
  • Support start-up of new machines and automations, troubleshooting of process issues.
  • Develops and updates CNC programs as required. Suggests drawing changes/corrections in collaboration with R&D (STIHLDE).
  • Supports resolving quality problems in collaboration with the Quality Assurance Department.
  • Support for project and process development of new parts or design changes as well as statistical planning during part development phase.
  • Investigation and design proposals for improving equipment performance and obtains data for development, standardization, and quality control.
  • Estimation of production times and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
  • Communication with management, engineering, and other departments regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  • Planning and improvement of production results in regards to safety, quality, and scrap.
  • Supports training of machine operators/process technicians in process and machine operation. Investigation and development of new production processes, quality inspection plans, work instructions and set-up standards.
  • Assumes additional related responsibilities as needed.
  • 4 year college degree, preferably in engineering, manufacturing or related discipline
  • 1+ years of related experience with machine tools, machining processes, automation equipment and materials
