Inventory Audits Supervisor

This individual will oversee the compilation and maintenance of records pertaining to the quantity, type and value of inventory. They will prepare and analyze detailed reports on inventory operations, variances and adjustments for cost accounting and controlling use.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manages department workflow and performance objectives. Assumes supervisory functions to include vacation approval, disciplinary actions, performance evaluations, etc.
  • Organizes ongoing in-house and offsite inventory audits and physical inventory counts by scheduling either requested, randomly chosen, or routine audits / counts. Ensures all audits completed within the appropriate timeframe throughout the year.
  • Reviews and analyzes audit results and determines necessary adjustments and corrections to accounting systems, inventory software systems and physical inventory. 
  • Supports the Finance, Operations, Engineering, Logistics and Supply Chain departments with analyzing and correcting shipping / receiving discrepancies & inventory variances.
  • Directs the disposal and disposition of non-production related scrap both in-house and offsite.
  • Researches problems occurring in the computer programs related to placement or displacement of inventory and works with IS to resolve errors in SAP. Assists with the implementation of new or special systems.
  • Drives and implements process improvements where necessary and assists in the improvement of internal controls related to inventory.
  • Coordinates and supports branch quarterly and year-end physical inventory with external auditors.
  • Assumes additional related responsibilities as needed.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of related experience preferred.
  • Manufacturing experience preferred
  • Performs work under minimal supervision. Handles complex issues and problems, and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • SAP experience preferred.
