HRIS Specialist

STIHL is seeking an HRIS Specialist to join our Information Services Team at STIHL’s corporate headquarters in Virginia Beach! This person will configure and maintain the STIHL portfolio of Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS).

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serves as a system administrator for HR/PY systems and applications.
  • Configures and maintains the individual systems and interconnectivity of HRIS within the organization to include functionalities that span applicant tracking, payroll, benefits, time & attendance, training, talent management, employee self-service, and analytics.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to develop technology solutions that help to streamline and automate HR/PY Processes to meet changing labor laws and regulatory requirements, new policies, and efficiency standards.
  • Implements enhancements to the HRIS to include analysis, design, development, testing, and deployment.  
  • Translate business objectives and user needs into clearly written technical requirements.  Implementation of new HR/PY modules or point solutions and integrate into the existing HR/PY landscape.  Provides data summaries or statistical analysis for use in audits, strategic planning or decision-making.
  • Audits data and processes to ensure its integrity within the HRIS. Follows established procedures for updating, validating, and correcting employee records or other related employee data.
  • Creates and executes data extracts, transformations, and validations. Coordinates problem resolution with vendors.
  • Oversees all system upgrades and system maintenance for upgrades and patches.
  • Ensures system compliance with data security and privacy requirements. Manages user access roles, security access and settings.  Provides technical support, troubleshooting, and guidance to all HRIS end users.
  • Designs user-friendly processes and prepares end-user documentation and/or training materials. 
  • Creates and delivers presentations on specific system related topics.  
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


•    Minimum of 1 year of HR/Payroll experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience required.
•    Minimum of 4 years of HRIS experience required.
•    Comprehensive understanding of HR applications and interdependencies with HR, Payroll and other department applications.
•    SAP, UltiPro, Success Factors, and similar HRIS system experience preferred.
•    Advance proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, database management, security and SQL queries.
•    Experience in documenting processes, performing diagnostic tests, audits and HR performance metrics.
•    Exceptional interpersonal, communication skills and organizational skills.
•    Ability to work interdependent and as part of a team.
•    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
•    Deadline oriented with ability to multi-task and ability to keep information confidential.
