Corporate Counsel

Purpose

This individual will provide legal support and advice on a broad range of legal topics to include: employment, labor relations, immigration, intellectual property (trademarks, patents, copyright), contracts and transactional matters, real estate, construction, regulatory compliance, advertising law, commercial law, and general business matters, as business needs dictate.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Review all contracts, leases, and agreements prior to execution on behalf of STIHL and revise, where necessary.
  • Provide advice regarding contract negotiations and transactional matters.
  • Draft template framework contracts and specific terms and conditions for various departments.
  • Assist in contract management coordination, including maintenance and enforcement of contract- related policies.
  • Provide advice regarding real estate transactions and construction projects, to include drafting/reviewing transactional documents and contracts, and communicating with real estate brokers, City officials, and related parties.
  • Participate in closings and management of real estate transactions.
  • Provide advice regarding intellectual property, including patent negotiations, trademark/copyright infringement and enforcement.
  • Provide legal research and advice regarding employment, labor relations, and Human Resources related issues.
  • Provide legal advice on new litigation or claims brought by or against STIHL.
  • Conduct complex legal research and investigation of claims and defenses.
  • Represent STIHL before federal, state, and local administrative agencies on a variety of matters such as discrimination, employment, real estate and construction issues, and regulatory compliance.
  • Consult STIHL management regarding legislative and regulatory changes, and significant court rulings.
  • Serve as Privacy Officer for the Company. Develop policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance.
  • Communicate/interact with outside counsel as required. Assumes additional related responsibilities as needed.

Specifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline preferred Juris Doctorate Virginia State Bar
  • Admission 5+ years experience in general civil legal practice, top-tier law firm preferred
  • Exceptional legal writing and research skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
