Business Systems Analyst


To provide project management in business systems projects and development efforts and detailed analysis and technical support for enterprise-level business systems and applications within the STIHL environment. To assist colleagues in troubleshooting end-user application issues. To identify continuous improvement and cross-functional opportunities ased on changing needs within the business. To assess business requirements and provide solutions for support requests; additional functionality; or revisions to existing systems. To recommend standards for business systems as business requirements.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provides expert level support to end-users for various applications within the STIHL environment. Evaluates business requirements and recommends IT solutions consistent with short and long term strategies, changing business processes, and to improve quality, effectiveness, and efficiency.  
  • Assists management in planning future business systems improvements.
  • Develops business systems and application requirements and specifications according to business requirements.
  • Leads small to medium size projects to address business requirements.
  • Monitors system performance, performs problem determination and implements changes accordingly.
  • Leads documentation efforts, training and testing of business systems and applications.
  • Mentors IS analysts and provide guidance where required.
  • Interfaces with external consultants in support of business systems and applications.
  • Supports company policies and procedures and ensure adherence to STIHL Inc. computer and security policies.
  • Maintains and presents status of ongoing project milestones and tasks as required.
  • Maintains currency with respect to technical skills by attending training classes and seminars as needed.
  • Assumes additional related responsibilities as needed.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an Information Systems related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.  
  • 7+ years of experience in supporting software development life cycle and methodologies for enterprise applications.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing, distribution or logistics environment.  
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with relational databases, programming and development.   
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft software, including Excel, PowerPoint, Access & Viso.    
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience leading medium size projects preferred.
  • Some travel required as dictated by business requirements (approximately 2+ weeks per year).
