About You

This person will be facilitating the pipeline of skilled technicians by leading the STIHL apprenticeship program.  You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of apprenticeship, from candidate selection through graduation and placement into STIHLs regular workforce.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Working with business unit leaders, design, confirm, deliver and improve curriculums that drive the theoretical and practical training necessary to achieve the desired future skill sets of technical employees.
  • Partnering with business unit leaders, lead apprenticeship bootcamp, and performance management throughout apprenticeship of employees in the apprentice program.
  • Confirm annual headcount and skill set plan with responsible business unit leaders to ensure apprentice program is staffed appropriately.  Similarly, ensure graduating apprentices are appropriately slotted for regular STIHL jobs within the staffing plan.
  • Accountable for program’s adherence to DOLI, collegiate and STIHL regulations.
  • Maintain relationship with technical centers, community colleges and state agencies to ensure the STIHL apprenticeship program remains top of class.
  • All work affecting product quality shall be competent on the basis of appropriate education, training, skills, and experience.
  • Accountable for the recruitment and marketing of STIHL’s apprenticeship program; including attending career fairs, creating and coordinating aptitude and practical hands-on selection assessments, partnering with Talent Acquisition to coordinate in person interviews and working with business leaders to select top candidates for placement.
  • Collaborate with other STIHL subsidiary apprentice leaders to create and coordinate an apprenticeship rotation program.
  • Responsible for the planning and execution of the annual apprenticeship graduation ceremony.

 

 

Specifications

  • 4-year apprenticeship, 4-year college degree Degree/Diploma in related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years teaching experience, preferably leading a technical apprenticeship. 
  • Working proficiency with regulations related to registered apprenticeships under the Department of Laboe and Industry (DOLI), preferably in Virginia. 
  • Excellent communication skills.
