During the course of the program, Apprentices will:

  • Gain knowledge of the operating procedures in the assigned department. Receive training and instruction on machine operation, quality and production standards, and departmental processes, procedures and goals. Participate in actual departmental operations to the extent that training allows and is feasible. 
  • Learn blueprint reading and specifications, using various computer programs, mechanical activities and using mathematical concepts (using metrics) during the course of the department assignment.
  • Communicate the learning obtained through various methods to include written assignments, interviews and oral reports.
  • Participate in related projects as assigned, which may be individual projects to show proficiencies business-related departmental projects that offer exposure to specific skills or information.
  • Complete related courses of study as required by Program. Most courses will be completed outside normally assigned work shift.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Will participate in actual departmental operations to the extent that training allows and is practicable.
  • May be required to work various shifts and overtime.
  • Responsibilities may include reading and blueprint and specifications, using various computer programs, engaging in mechanical activities and using mathematical concepts (using metrics) during the course of the department assignment.
  • Communicates the learning that has been obtained through various methods.
  • May include written assignments, interviews and oral reports.
  • Participates in related projects as assigned.
  • May be individual project to show proficiencies, or may be business related departmental project that offers exposure to specific skills or information.
  • Completes related courses of study as required by Program.
  • Most courses will be completed outside of normally assigned work shift.
  • All work affecting product quality shall be competent on the basis of appropriate education, training, skills, and experience.
  • Assume additional related responsibilities as assigned.

All applicants are required to complete TCC math testing OR provide transcripts detailing math credit by June 2nd, 2022. TCC math placement testing is available by appointment only. Contact TCC for details.

Specifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic personal computing skills.
  • Above average score on basic skill test and mechancial concepts test batteries.
  • 2 years experience in high volume manufacturing environment.
  • Basic blueprint and specifications reading ability.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, twisting, reaching and repetitive motion.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of up to 25 pounds, infrequent lifting and carrying of up to 50 pounds.
  • Visual and hearing acuity required.
  • Fine manipulation and dexterity required.
