Dealer Support Specialist

Purpose

To primarily support new dealer development by implementing key staff training in the areas of sales & service, key initiatives and sales & marketing programs. To promote the safe application and use of STIHL products and to further enhance and support sales and service. To evaluate existing dealer sales and service facilities and to recommend and assist in the implementation of improvements. To support STIHL Dealers, STIHL Battery and Electric Retailers (BER) and STIHL iMow Dealers in varying levels and priorities as determined annually by the Sales Manager.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Coordinates training and support needs of all new dealers with Sales Manager. Provides training for STIHL products, parts, accessories, electronic B2B initiatives, iCademy®, Service Advantage and other merchandising programs.
  • May assist in development and implementation of training programs for STIHL Battery and Electric Product.
  • Coordinates training and support needs of BER dealers.
  • May assist in developing programs to market and demonstrate iMow, targeting dealers, end users, and other interested parties.
  • Responsible for all aspects related to the training event including, but not restricted to the organization, logistics, and set up/close down of training equipment. Ensures that issues and requests emanating from training sessions are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Attends trade shows, dealer open houses, and other events to promote STIHL products, and maintains positive customer relations between STIHL, dealers and end users. This may require working on some weekends.
  • Responsible for assisting dealers with installing and educating end users about STIHL products.
  • Provides management feedback regarding dealer sales potential, branch support, programs, and marketing support.
  • Assists Territory Managers, Merchandising Manager and Sales Manager with implementation and installation of point of sale product displays. Assists the Service Department with training of dealers with service and updates.
  • Reports to management and sales staff on a regular and ad hoc basis about activities, issues and opportunities in the dealer network.
  • Assumes additional related responsibilities as needed.
Specifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Technical education or training with emphasis on electronics is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience with outdoor power equipment or related experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office software, including Word, Excel, Power Point & Office.       
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; Ability to create and give professional presentations to groups.
  • Minimum of 4 days per week of overnight travel by road and/or air.
  • Frequent bending, lifting/moving up to 40 lbs., reaching, standing, and walking.
  • Must reside in or relocate to an area within Minnesota, western Iowa, North Dakota or South Dakota.
